The California-based health communications company will be fully integrated with Fingerpaint.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY and EMERYVILLE, CALIFORNIA., June 16, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Fingerpaint, a full-service health and wellness marketing company with a global team of more than 580 employees, has Splice, a health communications company based in Emeryville, California. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Fingerpaint is known for its innovative and data-driven approach to delivering analytical-powered, integrated marketing solutions to a growing number of healthcare customers, particularly in the pharmaceutical, rare disease and gene therapy sectors. The acquisition and full integration of Splice into the Fingerpaint brand will strengthen the company, which has just been named Agency of the Year, Category I by Med Ad News, give it a presence on the west coast and support its ongoing commitment to a best- in-class marketing service provider for biopharmaceuticals.
“Splice has built a great company with top healthcare talent that we are happy to add to the Fingerpaint family,” said Bill McEllen, a fingerpaint partner who also runs the company’s advertising group. “As Fingerpaint continues to work with Biopharma earlier in the commercialization process, this move will help us grow in a geographic area where biopharmaceutical companies are booming.”
There are 3,766 life sciences companies, 348 more than last year, according to the California Life Sciences Association’s 2020 California Life Sciences Sector Report 2020, published in October California, with 1,380 new therapies in the development pipeline.
As part of the deal, Splice has co-founded Paul Hagopian will continue to lead the day-to-day operations of the group and report directly to McEllen. Hagopian has nearly 25 years of experience in health communications and held a number of senior positions prior to founding Splice.
“Fingerpaint’s people-first culture and its award-winning work made the perfect combination,” said Hagopian. “The integration with Fingerpaint will enable us to offer our customers new and improved services and growth opportunities for our employees while maintaining our roots on the west coast.”
Knox Lane, a private equity firm based in San Francisco, is a strategic investor in fingerpaint.
“We are confident that this acquisition will add to Fingerpaint’s list of the best talent and services as it continues to maintain its position as the leading commercialization partner for biopharmaceuticals,” said Shamik Patel, Partner at Knox Lane.
In March, Fingerpaint announced a strategic investment in Leaderboard Branding, a leading global name and brand company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It joined other fingerpaint companies: 1798, a market access and commercialization company specializing in healthcare advisory services, including patient and provider access services, financial impact analysis and analysis, competitive intelligence, and pull-through solutions; and Photo 51, a consulting firm exclusively focused on advanced therapeutics such as gene and cell therapies.
